Ubois has 9th HR to Start April; CSM Win Streak at 22

SAN MATEO — Amanda Ubois-Weitenhagen didn’t waste any time starting April in the same fashion as March. The College of San Mateo freshman outfielder smacked her ninth home run on Tuesday to cap the state top-ranked Bulldogs’ 4-1 win over visiting Cabrillo College and extend their state-leading winning streak to 22 games.

She hit her first college home on March 1 and hasn’t let up since in a spree that has included 32 RBI’s and a now team-leading .493 batting average.

Aubrie Businger got the April opener started with a leadoff home run, her fifth. After the Seahawks walked pitcher Emily McAdams, Riley Donovan doubled her home and San Mateo (29-2, 9-0 Coast North) quickly had the winning run in hand. Businger later had a sacrifice fly to scored Hailey Hiett.

McAdams went the distance to become the first community college pitcher with 20 wins this season (20-1). The CSM sophomore struck out four, allowed three hits and one earned run. She still leads Northern California (second in the state) with a 0.63 E.R.A. and has a league pacesetting 127 strikeouts.

San Mateo tops the state with 29 home runs.
