December, 2016 Press Releases

Although center Mariah Elzy posted a double-double in all three games, host College of San Mateo had to settle for a sixth place finish in its own Tom Martinez Women’s Basketball Invitational over the weekend. Santa Monica came back from a 52-47 fourth quarter deficit with a nine-point run to come away with a 64-58 victory over the Bulldogs in Sunday’s consolation finale.

Jerrene Richardson netted a 3-point basket to give Reedley College a 53-50 lead with 2:34 left in the game and those proved to be the winning points (and last field goal) as the visiting Tigers scored a 57-51 win over host College of San Mateo in the featured opening round game of the Tom Martinez Women’s Basketball Invitational Friday night.

College of San Mateo hopes to preserve its “young” home court winning streak when the Lady Bulldogs basketball team returns to College Heights to host the annual Tom Martinez Women’s Basketball Tournament from Friday, December 16 through Sunday, December 18.
