Alvin Sung had the right strategy to become College of San Mateo’s second state champion in the men’s javelin throw. “I wanted to start off strong,” he said. Mirka Uhlirova smashed her own CSM school record in the 10,000 meters by more than 36 seconds, placing fifth in 38 minutes, 15.15 seconds in Friday’s opening day competition.

Alvin Sung was a big winner for College of San Mateo with a javelin throw of 194 feet at the Northern California Track & Field Championships at Chabot College on Saturday.

Riley Wells waited for the post season for her first home run, a first inning grand slam that gave College of San Mateo a quick 7-0 lead, and the Bulldogs rolled to a 14-0 victory over Napa Valley College for a 2-game sweep of their opening playoff series.

Morgan Smith became College of San Mateo’s second women’s swimming champion in as many days Saturday, coming on strong in the final 50 yards to win the 200 yard butterfly at the California Community College Athletic Association Championships at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park.

Freshman Erica Vong won College of San Mateo’s first ever women’s state swimming title Friday, taking the 100 yard backstroke in a near record 54.93 seconds at the California Community College Athletic Association championships at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park. She just missed, by .07, the state record of 54.86.

Mirka Uhlirova became College of San Mateo second 2016 state track finals qualifier Friday with a school record fourth place finish in the women’s 10,000 meters at the Northern California Community College Championships at Chabot College.

CSM’s Honors Project is delighted to announce that nine of its students will be presenting their research at the 9th annual Honors Research Symposium, to be held Saturday May 7 at UC Berkeley.

On Monday, May 9, 2016, the transit of Mercury begins at 6:06 am and ends at 11:42 am, local time. Courtesy of CSM’s Astronomy Department and the San Mateo County Astronomical Society (SMCAS), solar telescopes will be set up at two on-campus locations for public viewing of the transit from 7-11:45 am.

All six of College of San Mateo’s women’s and men’s spring sports teams will be involved in California Community College Athletic Association playoff/championship activities this weekend (May 5-8).
