Eric Lau hit a triple to right center to score pitcher Sean Prozell with the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as College of San Mateo defeated City College of San Francisco, 3-1, in a Coast Golden Gate Conference baseball game played ahead of schedule to beat the weather, on Monday.

It was perhaps fitting that the 400th softball victory by College of San Mateo softball coach Nicole Borg and her staff — 6-4 over host Ohlone College — also gave the State top-ranked Lady Bulldogs a game and a half lead over the rival Renegades in the Coast North Conference.

After hitting a single, double, and a home run in his first three at bats, Jack McCarthy was just looking for a triple – for the cycle. All he got however were three more hits for a “perfect” 6-for-6 day as College of San Mateo slugged three homers to defeat De Anza College, 8-1, Monday in a Coast Golden Gate Conference baseball game on the Bulldogs’ all-weather field.

Everett Lau went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, scoring three times, as College of San Mateo came back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat district rival Cañada, 8-5, in a non-conference baseball game Saturday afternoon in Redwood City. Angelo Botulin had two hits and a RBI.

Lauren Quirke hit a 2-run home run and pitched a 7-inning 1-hit shutout to improve her perfect record to 10-0 as Northern California top-ranked College of an Mateo defeated No. 3 Feather River, 6-0, on Sunday. The Bulldogs then applied a 9-1 (5-inning) mercy-rule victory in the nightcap.
