College of San Mateo employee Michael Mitchell was recently honored with a Classified Employee of the Year Award by the Foundation for California Community Colleges. Mitchell, a program supervisor in CSM’s Transfer Services is one of four employees statewide to receive the award presented at the California Community Colleges Board of Governors meeting in Sacramento on May 20.

Minnijean Brown Trickey, one of the Little Rock Nine, and a pioneer of the civil rights movement, will deliver the commencement address at College of San Mateo’s graduation ceremony on Friday, May 25. This year’s ceremony is a historic milestone as the college celebrates its 90th anniversary and honors the 90th graduating class of College of San Mateo.

Tim Maxwell, associate professor of English at College of San Mateo, has been awarded a Human Rights Education Fellowship for 2011-12 by the Division of International Comparative and Area Studies (ICA) at Stanford University and the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE).
