Defending Northern California football champion College of San Mateo is the first community college with a schedule of nationally televised football games. Coverage is slated to debut with the season opener on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 1, against College of the Siskiyous at 1 pm.

Reigning Bay 6 League and Northern California Football Conference champion College of San Mateo will open the 2018 season at home on Saturday, Sept. 1, hosting College of the Siskiyous at 1 p.m. — under the direction of new head coach Tim Tulloch.

Senior Jimmy Leatiota (San Jose, Calif.-Wilcox (College of San Mateo)) was distinguished as a candidate for the 2018 Outland Trophy presented by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases for the best interior lineman in college football, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

Somewhat overlooked in the A’s convincing back-to-back wins over the Blue Jays this week was the “perfect” relief pitching by College of San Mateo’s Joe Biagini for the Jays. He recorded six consecutive outs (including 3 straight strikeouts) in the two games.
