May, 2018 Press Releases

A national telecast of the 2018 California Community College Athletic Association Track & Field Championships will debut on ELEVEN SPORTS USA on Wednesday evening, May 30, from 6-8 p.m. (P.T.).

SoCal No. 3 and defending State Champions, Cypress College kept their repeat dreams alive on Saturday afternoon in the 2018 CCCAA State Softball Championships. The Chargers eliminated NorCal No. 1 College of San Mateo 7-2 and advanced to the elimination semi-final later in the day.

College of San Mateo (NorCal No. 1) stayed alive in the 2018 CCCAA State Softball Championships for the second straight game on Friday evening. The Bulldogs took down NorCal No. 2 Sierra College 9-4, sending the Wolverines home for the weekend.

NorCal No. 1 College of San Mateo escaped their Coast Conference North Division rival Ohlone College (NorCal No. 3) in their first elimination game of the 2018 CCCAA State Softball Championships, 5-3. The Bulldogs used a four-run second inning to overcome an early deficit and then held on late as Ohlone had a chance to tie the game in the top of the seventh.

Kassidy Robinson stepped up and hit a clutch two-run single in the fifth inning that put No. 4S El Camino College ahead for good en route to a 5-4 victory over No. 1N College of San Mateo Thursday afternoon in the opening game of the 2018 California Community College Softball State Championships at Mount San Antonio College.

The College of San Mateo softball team is going to the state finals tournament for a sixth consecutive year!

It’s déjà vu for College of San Mateo and state top-ranked San Joaquin Delta College in community college baseball this week. The season will end this weekend for one of those teams in a rematch of the controversial start of the season — when the game umpires “awarded” a 3-2 victory to Delta over the Bulldogs on a “darkness” ruling.

Elite throwers Adan Pena and Taina Livai, state high jump leader Caroline Trevithick, and Coast Conference long jump champion Nathaniel Shani lead College of San Mateo’s post season track and field qualifiers. They are slated to compete in Friday’s (May 4) Northern California Trials at Sacramento City College. The Finals will be on May 11 at Sacramento.

The 11th seeded Bulldogs (26-13) are scheduled to play No. 6 seed College of Marin (27-12), the Bay Valley Conference champions, on Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Laney College field in Oakland. A third game, if needed, will follow on Saturday at approximately 2 p.m.
