February, 2018 Press Releases

The Bulldogs (16-2), who moved up to No. 1 in Northern California in the Feb. 23 coaches association poll, defeated No. 7 West Valley, 10-2, and No. 9 College of the Sequoias, 9-1, both in abbreviated 5-inning games. San Mateo is ranked No. 2 in the state behind defending state champion Cypress (10-0).

The top ranked College of San Mateo softball team took care of business opening weekend with a 3-game sweep of visitors College of the Siskiyous (twice) and Gavilan by a combined 28 – 6 margin. Except for one wild inning in Saturday’s closer, the Lady Bulldogs shutout their opponents in all other frames.

There are at least nine “super” reasons for College of San Mateo fans to want the Patriots to win – or lose – Sunday’s championship game.

Chris Papapietro, Jack McCarthy, Kevin Jordan, and Justin Berry each had three hits, including RBIs, as host College of San Mateo’s baseball team shutout visiting Solano College, 11-0, on Thursday afternoon.
