San Mateo is ranked No. 2 in the state behind defending state champion Cypress (10-0).

The top ranked College of San Mateo softball team took care of business opening weekend with a 3-game sweep of visitors College of the Siskiyous (twice) and Gavilan by a combined 28 – 6 margin. Except for one wild inning in Saturday’s closer, the Lady Bulldogs shutout their opponents in all other frames.
