College of San Mateo ran its season opening women’s basketball win streak to four games before finally losing to host College of the Sequoias, 72-66, in the finals of the Giants’ tournament over the weekend. It was the first time the high scoring Bulldogs had been held under 70 points this season.

No. 2 seed College of San Mateo will play host to No. 3 Chabot College of Hayward in a California Community College Athletic Association state football playoff opener on Saturday (Nov. 21) at 12 noon in the Bulldog Bowl at College Heights Stadium.

Mariah Elzy scored 21 points and had 12 rebounds as College of San Mateo’s women’s basketball team rolled to a third straight victory, 79-61, at Gavilan College over the weekend to keep its undefeated record.

Keenan Smith ran 65 yards for a touchdown on the game’s first offensive play as College of San Mateo defeated host Diablo Valley College, 42-7, to set-up a Bay 6 title-deciding game with City College of San Francisco at CSM next Saturday (Nov. 14) at 1 p.m.

Marina Koloamatangi had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead a half dozen College of San Mateo women’s basketball scorers in double figures in a 77-53 romp over visiting Cabrillo College for the Bulldogs second straight one-sided victory.

With 6-0 newcomer Mariah Elzy scoring 19 points and 5-11 veteran Marina Koloamatangi adding 16, College of San Mateo tipped off the California Community College Athletic Association women’s basketball season with a 94-62 explosion at Hartnell College.

The state eighth-ranked Bulldogs, 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Bay 6 League, are now poised for title deciding showdowns on Friday at Diablo Valley (4-4, 2-1) at 7 p.m. and on Nov. 14 in the 1 p.m. finale at home with league leader City College of San Francisco (7-1, 3-0). Both games will be streamed live in high definition on baosn.tv.
