In February 2016, the College of San Mateo and Bee Campus USA announced that College of San Mateo is the third institution of higher education in the nation to be certified as an affiliate of the Bee Campus USA program, designed to marshal the strengths of educational campuses for the benefit of pollinators.

Samantha Dean pitched a 1-hitter (and also smacked two hits) as 4-time champion College of San Mateo opened Coast North Conference softball play with an 8-0, five-inning, victory over visiting De Anza College Tuesday. State top-ranked CSM improved to 10-1 on the season. De Anza fell to 0-9.
