March, 2019 Press Releases

Taina Livai took the Northern California lead in the women’s javelin throw at 125 feet, 7 inches at Saturday’s Bob Rush / State Meet preview meet at College of San Mateo. The Bulldogs sophomore ranks No. 3 in the state. She also took the shot put (35-9 1/4) and placed fourth in the discus throw at 107-6, won by CSM teammate Teme Fanguna (118-5).

Amanda Ubois-Weitenhagen had four hits and four RBIs as College of San Mateo increased the state’s best softball record to 26-2 with a doubleheader sweep over host Merced College, 6-0 and 5-1, on Sunday. CSM has outscored opponents in March by a 140-6 margin while extending the state’s longest winning streak to 19 games.

State-leading sprinter Yan-Jun (Sophie) Liao will finally make her home debut for College of San Mateo’s track and field team Saturday (March 23) at the Bob Rush State Preview meet.

Following a spectacular 8-victory, 76-run start to the month, College of San Mateo’s softball team is in full ”March Madness” form, leading the state’s 85 community college teams in most categories.

Amanda Ubois-Weitenhagen has hit back-to-back grand slam home runs for College of San Mateo’s softball team, a fete seldom accomplished at any level of the sport. Longtime CSM coach (and former player) Nicole Borg could not recall ever seeing that accomplished.

Emily McAdams and Kaitlyn Grech combined for a no-hitter as College of San Mateo opened Coast North women’s softball play with an 18-0 blanking of visiting Mission College Tuesday. The Bulldogs have now shutout four foes over five days by a 48-0 count in 5-inning mercy-rule games!
