Miles Mastrobuoni and Steve Pastora each banged out three hits as College of San Mateo rolled past visiting Hartnell College, 9-2, in a Coast Conference crossover baseball game Thursday.

Skania Lemus and Natalie Saucedo hit back-to-back home runs to start the second inning as state top-ranked College of San Mateo won its 26th consecutive softball game, 7-4, over Coast Conference South Division leader Cabrillo College Thursday on a three homerday. The Bulldogs (30-1) also became the first team in the state to record 30 victories this season. No other team has won more than two dozen games.

Natalie Saucedo had a triple and a double, scored two runs, and knocked in another as College of San Mateo’s state top-ranked women’s softball team rolled past Coast Conference south contender Gavilan College, 7-3, in Gilroy. The Bulldogs (29-1, 10-0 Coast North) started off with four runs in the top of the first frame – all that they needed for their 25th consecutive victory. Gavilan fell two games back in the Coast South race (20-9, 6-4).

Nationally-ranked Maureen Pahulu won the women’s discus and hammer throws events Friday at College of San Mateo’s annual Bob Rush track and field Invitational which included most of Northern California’s top community college athletes.

Lelani Akai completed a perfect 5-for-5 hitting week as top-ranked College of San Mateo ran its state-leading softball winning streak to 24 games with a mercy-rule shortened five-inning romp at Coast South co-leader West Valley College in Saratoga.

Natalie Saucedo’s grand slam homer with two outs highlighted a 5-run third inning as College of San Mateo’s state top-ranked women’s softball team ran past visiting Monterey Peninsula College, 8-0, in five innings for the Bulldogs 20th straight win.

Coast Golden Gate co-leader CSM resumes conference play Saturday at third place Mission College (which is one game back) in Santa Clara at 12 noon.

Tyler Carlson’s run scoring triple capped a four-run third inning as College of San Mateo won a battle of Coast Conference division leaders, 6-2, over visiting Cabrillo College.

College of San Mateo returns home from a three-game road trip Tuesday atop the Coast Golden Gate Conference baseball standings and will entertain Cabrillo College, the co-leaders of the Coast Pacific Division, at 2:30 p.m. Both teams have 4-1 records in their respective divisions.

Moreen Pahulu swept all four women’s throwing events for host College of San Mateo at a major 8-team track and field meet involving two and four-year college teams on Friday. Pahulu’s best mark came in the javelin throw. She improved her Coast Conference lead to 110 feet, 7 inches, which ranks No. 7 n the state.
