Donovan & Moreno Co-lead State with 6 HR’s
CSM Softball Streaks to 14-1 with sweep of ARC & COR

Riley Donovan and Shea Moreno each slugged their sixth home runs to co-lead the state as College of San Mateo (14-1) swept visiting American River, 5-2, and College of the Redwoods, 17-3, in non-league softball games over the Presidents Day weekend.

Moreno had a grand slam against Redwoods, followed shortly by Donovan’s solo blast in the fourth inning. Moreno stole bases in each game to bring her state-leading total to 22, seven more than anyone else. (And only that single player is even in the teens.)

Moreno, with 25 hits and 20 RBIs, and Donovan, with 23 hits and 19 RBIs, rank 1-2 in Northern California in both categories. Moreno is slugging 1.105 and Donovan 1.104. Donovan is batting .605 and Moreno .540.

Unbeaten Phelicity “Titah” Faaita pitched 4 1/3 innings against American River, striking out eight to gain her state leading eighth win. She ranks No. 2 in Northern California with 43 strikeouts. Faaita aids her cause as a hitter, batting .366 and slugging .659, with a pair of home runs and four doubles. She had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs against Redwoods.

Kealani Cardona got the win against Redwoods as is now 6-1, tied for No. 5 in the state in wins.
