CSM Runs Past Visiting Las Positas in Coast North Women’s Basketball

SAN MATEO – Courtney Townsend had 18 points and 12 rebounds while Coral Yu added 14 points as College of San Mateo ran past visiting Las Positas College, 70-48, in a Coast North Conference women’s basketball game Friday evening at College Heights Gymnasium.

CSM (13-9, 2-2 Coast North) took a 14-7 first quarter lead and extended it to 34-20 at halftime and 48-33 after three quarters, then continued to pull away at the end. Ava Agustin had a trio of 3-pointers and 11 points, plus five assists. Chastity Wheeler also had a double double with with ten points and 11 rebounds. Miracle Evans and Emily Latu each had ten rebounds as CSM totaled 61 grabs to just 24 for Las Positas.

Las Positas (6-14, 1-3) got a game high 19 points from Sahana Samra. CSM held conference scoring leader Bianca Camello (24.1 average) to 17 points (and nine rebounds).

–CSM closes out first round play on Wednesday at Chabot College in Hayward at 5 p.m. Both teams currently share third place at 2-2. The Bulldogs open the second half at current leader Skyline (4-0) on Friday in a doubleheader at 5 p.m., with the men playing at 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on baosn.tv.

–Skyline, which was idle on Friday, wraps up the first half Wednesday, hosting winless Ohlone (0-4) at 7 p.m.
