San Mateo, CA; May 16, 2007–College of San Mateo is hosting a special two-hour event on May 22 in the school’s theatre, beginning at 6:30 pm. “Connect to College: A Night of Information for High School Seniors and Parents” will offer those attending an opportunity to learn about all that CSM has to offer—and the list is considerable.
“We’ll discuss our transfer programs, financial aid and scholarships, career and vocational programs, certificates, A.A. and A.S. degrees, academic programs and student life,” said CSM President Michael Claire. “We can do this electronically or by direct mail but we want to meet face-to-face with students and parents. We want them to get to know us and we want to get to know them.”
The free event will feature presentations, including student and faculty perspectives. Also, the community college’s students, staff, faculty and administrators will be present to provide information and answer questions.
Other event highlights include a raffle. Refreshments will be served.
“We hope that this will be just one of the many visits students and parents make to our campus,” Claire added.
“To support the quality education we provide, we have a number of new and renovated buildings with state-of-the-art classrooms and labs and modern athletic fields.”
Claire is encouraging students and parents to visit CSM’s Web site at collegeofsanmateo.edu to become familiar with CSM before the event. They can also take a virtual tour of the campus by going to collegeofsanmateo.edu/virtualtour.
For specific questions about the event, please contact Alex Guiriba at 650.574.6646 or guiribaj@smccd.edu. Directions to and a map of the campus can be found at collegeofsanmateo.edu/map.
Parking for the event is free in CSM parking lots 1 & 2.
